Strings in BP Canada's Low Pressure Shallow Gas Area

In 2007-08 BP Canada installed 7 PolyFlow Fortron plastic velocity strings in their low pressure
shallow gas area. PolyFlow plastic tubing claims both superior corrosion resistance and improved
lift performance via a reduced coefficient of friction due to the utilization of polymers inherent to
reservoir fluids 3 case studies are presented on the BP installs to evaluate the performance of the plastic in
comparison to conventional steel in terms of the co-efficient of friction, the heat transfer co-efficient,
and their overall effect on the vertical lift performance.
